PRI’s concerns reflected by UN Human Rights Committee

Article:
Penal Reform International (PRI) works on penal and criminal justice reform worldwide, for example to reduce prison overcrowding. PRI had reported to the United Nations Human Rights Committee in 2011 about its concerns, and in August 2012 the Committee has made concluding observations that pre-trial detention is used too frequently, detainees are not informed of their rights or given quick enough access to doctors, lawyers or judges, and that prisons are overcrowded and understaffed.
Please visit the PRI website to read the Human Rights Committee's concluding observations (English, French and Spanish) and state report, as well as PRI's research report into pre-trial detention and alternatives to imprisonment in Armenia.
